Moon hill

 The Moon hill unfolds its name apparently from this alluring event; in which the hill appears to be kissing the moon in the night sky on full moon nights. The View from top of the hill is so fascinating, as it gives you a feeling that you are on moon. The moon hill is known for its intense mind soothing backdrop for meditation and birds like Red Eagles. Locales relate the moon hill is similar to the mystical place where lord Krishna used to rest as in the epic.

pine forest

This is the most touristic spot in vagamon extending over2kms.The breathtaking scenery of this forest includes the lofty  pine trees lined in rows and the fallen colorful pine leaves all over the place .This is also a windy spot where you can hear the  soothing sound of the tree leaves and birds chirping near the green valley set besides the pine valley.

Paragliding spot / viewpoint

This tourist adventure site of Vagamon is situated at the hills of Kolahalamedu, forming part of south India‘s second highest peak namely the Amruthamedu. There is a 10 km long ridge of 3,000 feet in height from top to bottom. This site has steady winds blowing in the south western direction throughout the season..Paragliders from different parts of the world have experienced this astonishing adventurous  place and is known for its safety and professional support  from Fly Vagamon,a Paraglider's club based in vagamon which organises and conducts annual para-gliding event from Sept to Jan and March to may every year.The club offers training to new comers to experience and realize the thrills of flying.

Muruganmala is located closer to Vagamon Kurisumala. Murugan Mala is a pilgrim hill reached by foot.Once it was a tribal worship province located 2 km away from Vagamon in Idukki.  A small shrine is located,inside the jungle lies a stone idol of murugan .This hill is named after murugan.the son of lord shiva who used to meditate over this hill as depicted in the epic.

This is a famous location in vagamon situated near kolahalamedu, Thangalpara is a rocky mountain landscape where at the peak lies the resting place of a  Sufi saint Hasrath Sheikh Fariduddin Baba who came from afghanistan 800 years ago and is now considered as a muslim pilgrim centre.once up on a time this place was known for pandavas defence for its miracle stone located here. It is an Ideal place for hiking with a surprising viewpoint that awaits at the peak.

Kurisumala /the mountain of cross

Kurisumala is a christian pilgrimage site in vagamon .The rocky mountain extends over 1 km with 14 crosses can be seen on the path way that lines and leads to a small chapel built at the peak.Hiking up the holy mountain is a  sacred experience to many pilgrims that travel at the season of easter and have a  history of over more than 100 years .

The tea lake is one of the most famous places to visit in vagamon better known for boating in midst of the beautfiful tea plantation and green grass meadow hills,mellow calm winds that blows ,brings serenity  and  a remarkable experience on minds of the visitors.Located almost nearby the vagamon town.The main activities involve pedal boating,site seeing,rowing boats .

Kurisumala ashram

Kurisumala Ashram is a Cistercian Monastery in Syro-Malankara Catholic Church located at Vagamon, Kerala.The ashram was founded by francis Aacharya,Located on kurissumala hills.The Ashram or monastery is a community of spiritual seekers . Early appointment is required to visit kurisumala monastery.Dairy farm with cattle imported from Jersey is the major tourist attraction near Vagamon Kurisumala Ashram.

Marmala Waterfall

Marmala waterfall lies a few kilometres away from Erattupetta, in Kottayam district, Kerala, India inside a private estate. It is exactly 7 km from Teekoy rubber estate. From here a private vehicle can take you further 2 km after which the road is not motorable. Only a four-wheel drive (4x4) Jeep can go through the narrow path, often passing over the uneven rocky terrain . Even the jeep will not take you to the bottom of the falls. To reach the falls one has to get off the jeep and trek through the estate over the slippery rocky path. The waterfall is about 60 metres in height, falling into a 12-meter deep pool and joins the River Teekoy way down.

honeymoon cave

The Honeymoon cave is named in reference to the puranas of lord shiva and parvati. The cave is reached by trekking into the jungle,one of the un-explored caves in vagamon

An underground water supply system to the idukki dam . The tunnel extends over 2 kms,an interesting place to visit for the explorers and visitors.The tunnel channels the stream and stretches through the jungle , a walk that takes one close to nature.

Seetha vanam & Idukki wildlife sanctuary

The idukki wildlife Sanctuary is located 23km away from vagamon.The Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary here spreads over an area of 105.364 sq km covered by an enchanting canopy of tropical ever-green and deciduous trees, and offers boat rides.Elephants, bison, sambar deer, wild dogs, jungle cats, tiger, wild boar etc. are seen here apart from various species of snakes including cobra, viper, kraits and numerous non-poisonous ones. Birds include grey jungle fowl, Malabar grey hornbill, several species of woodpeckers, bulbuls, flycatchers, etc. The wildlife here is similar to that of Thekkady. This sanctuary lies adjacent to the world renowned Idukki Arch Dam.Also known as sita vanam(forest) by the locales

The 15 hectare garden of Orchids is located in Kolahalamedu in Vagamon The garden is packed with  rare variety of Orchids that are found in the Western Ghats.kerala Forest Development Corporation(KFDC) Vagamon took  complete initiative to operate the first Orchid garden in Kerala which will help in enhancing the greenery of Vagamon.

maveli cave

Mavely cave is named after "Mahabali"or "Maveli " the benevolent asura king in the ancient hindu mythology.The cave is believed to be the portal that leads to the underworld dimension in reference with the mythology.In reality, the prodigious cave is overwhelming with wonders .A great place to explore.
